Over time drinking water systems provided to chicks in poultry sheds can build up a biofilm – a slimy collection of bacteria which adhere to themselves and the surfaces within the drinking system.
Biofilms within industry cause many problems.
Contaminated drinking water can become a source of disease transmission. As birds drink the contaminated water, they can ingest harmful pathogens, leading to outbreaks of gastrointestinal and respiratory illnesses.
Biofilms consume nutrients from the water, leading to poorer water quality. Essential minerals and vitamins that are intended for the birds can be depleted by the microorganisms within the biofilm.
Biofilm buildup can clog pipes, nipples, and drinkers, leading to reduced water flow or complete blockages.
O2X is a hyper oxygenation system which introduces Ultra Fine Bubbles to the poultry water drinking system. Not only does O2X control biofilms, but the addition of the oxygen within the drinking supply helps improve Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR), lower chick mortality, increase thermal tolerance, reduce the use of antibiotics, provide a more consistent crop all year round, and lower your carbon footprint!
Ultimately O2X is a greener alternative, which is better for chick welfare and helps increase profit margin.
O2X is backed by two years of field trials over two of the UK’s best performing broiler farms with the involvement of one of the UK’s top agricultural Universities. This data set comes from over 5 million birds.
All of these benefits are brought from a small amount of electric, air, and a lot of innovation.
Please feel free to download a copy of our O2X product flyer which outlines all the key benefits.
No, the amount of oxygen generated is not large enough to cause an elevated risk, added to the fact it is injected into water. In the unlikely event of an oxygen leak the system will alarm and dependent on user settings, shutdown.
The system works best with clean water. Where elevated microbial loading or contaminants are encountered the system can be adapted to accommodate
Install is typically accomplished in 2 days and is done during crop turnaround
Post install is recommended that daily checks of filters are carried out until the biofilm / calcium accretion is cleared.
The system is designed such that total breakdowns are unlikely. The system is modular and monitored 24/7. Variations in performance will flag issues before breakdown occurs. In the unlikely event of breakdown we will normally be on site and have matters fixed within 24 hours.
